Role at Staffordshire IT

Callum is one of our Technical Support Engineers, he provides support to our customers and deals with any enquiries that arrive via telephone, remote or on-site. Part of his role with us could be described as ‘second-line support’, which involves assisting Ben with any challenging queries and completing general support requests and problems.

Callum monitors the support system we have in place at Staffordshire IT for any alerts or errors on our servers, and resolves these before they become a more serious issue. He also works on-site and assists our engineer Phil, when required, with work such as; data cabling, server and PC installations, network troubleshooting and telephone system installations – to name a few!

Previous Experience

Callum has been with Staffordshire IT after he joined us in 2010 on an Apprenticeship scheme. During this time he had plenty of hands-on experience in the company as he assisted our other employees with their daily tasks. Callum was, subsequently, taken on as a full time employee after he showed he was a hard worker with a clear aptitude for IT – which is what we like to see at Staffordshire IT!

Callum stated that his Apprenticeship scheme prepared him well for work, but working at Staffordshire IT means he is learning something new every day! He enjoys the responsibility he has been given, and feels it has helped his working knowledge and skills progress very quickly.

Qualifications

Callum worked really hard to pass his Network and Examination with flying colours.

CompTIA Network+ CE Certified 1st June 2011 View Certificate

 

He is now studying:

Microsoft Technology Specialist (70-680)

Microsoft IT Professional (70-685)

Windows 7 Enterprise Support Technician

After these courses are completed, Callum will be a Microsoft Small Business Specialist and even more specialised in Windows 7 desktops – which is great news for our clients!
