Technical Skill Sets
Microsoft Engineer
John’s been actively involved in IT since 1990 and can work with any type of PC, Mac, Laptop, Server and smart phone (he thinks he’s clever), including all Microsoft and OSX software and operating systems (both server and Workstation). John does still get involved with installations and development of these products, although most of this is now handled by Phil & Callum. |
PC/Server Engineer
Although the day to day stuff is handled by the lads, troubleshooting and diagnostics are John’s expertise, due to his freakishly keen memory and his involvement in the IT field since before it was even called IT. It is “not because I’m old” he says, but him being closer to 40 than 30 does mean there is almost nothing he hasn’t seen or worked with before. |
Web designer
Although he does very little in the way of coding and web development these days, (that’s now Steve’s job, who by Johns own admission “does a 50 times better job of it too!”), John is an accomplished web designer and Html Coder. He still does all of the initial website design and concept art before passing the project on to Steve (to do the actual work!). |
Photographer
Although the IT side takes up too much time for him to do this commercially, John is a fully qualified professional photographer, and a member of the Royal Photography Society. |
Mac OSX guru
A handful of us in the office are now primarily Mac-based, and John is at the front of this crusade. He could be labelled as a bit of a Mac fanatic. He has implemented OSX Servers to run Macs and PC’s alike, and has operated at ‘expert level’ for nearly 5 years. It’s John’s name on the Apple IOS and OSX developer’s license although, again, Steve usually handles that bit now. Still, however, if it’s got an Apple logo on it, John’s your man. |
